Bunk Sandwiches Morrison is where the local chain sold its first sandwich, but on January 15 that particular branch sold its last. Bunk Morrison is closing after nine years of service, the shop announced today with a simple sign on the building.
However, the Morrison location is staying in the family, as it will eventually be replaced by a new Pizza Jerk, Tommy Habetz’ indulgent pizza spot with a cult-like following.
“Morrison has turned into a nighttime neighborhood,” Habetz told Eater. “A small slice and pie shop that can deliver to the neighborhood pairs well with places like Dig A Pony and Voicebox.”
This will be the first expansion for Pizza Jerk since it opened its original location in the Cully neighborhood. The location, which is expected to be open by April, will be a full service spot with full pies, slices, beer, and wine. It may also serve some sandwiches and salads, though not as extensively as the original menu. There’s no report yet as to whether they will paint over the faded image of Guy Fieri or not.
Luckily for sandwich fans, the trend-setting sandwich group will still have multiple locations at Water Ave, Downtown, Alberta, and in the basement of the Wonder Ballroom.
