After shutting down Superbite at the beginning of the year, chef-owners Greg Denton and Gabrielle Quiñonez Denton are ready to premiere the French-heavy Bistro Agnes in its downtown space at 527 SW 12th Ave. The new restaurant will open on Thursday, January 18, at 5 p.m. for dinner service. With a focus on Parisian classics, the menu listed on OpenTable features black pepper gougères with chicken liver mousse, fried pig’s head croquette, cassoulet of duck confit, roasted chicken with truffled macaroni, and Le Cheeseburger, which is a wagyu beef patty with cheddar, grilled onions, and truffled bordelaise.
Last November, the Dentons shared a few reasons for closing Superbite with PoMo — the thrust of which won’t likely surprise those who closely followed the restaurant: The concept suffered from trying to cram too many ideas into a single space.
Bistro Agnes opens Sunday through Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Saturday, 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.
