Earlier in January, Eater revealed that chef Nick Ford was plotting a wood-fired pizzeria for Lake Oswego — now the Oregonian brings a bunch more details.
Firstly, there’s a name and location — Pizzeria sul Lago will be in the former Blast Burger on 1st Street. Ford has also obtained backing from adjacent seafood and wine spot Five Spice.
That’s allowing him to invest in a custom-built pizza oven — and it’s now known what pizzas that oven will be churning out. There will be classics (margherita, Italian sausage), some new creations (including kale and squash pies), and vegan options made with Follow Your Heart faux-mozzarella. Gluten-free pizza will also be available.
The substantial pizza offerings are rounded out with just a few pastas, and a selection of very pizzeria-appropriate small plates such as meatballs, black garlic knots, arancini, and grilled rapini (see the story on Oregon Live for the full menu).
Ford comes with plenty of pizza know-how — he set up well-liked hip-hop pizzeria P.R.E.A.M., which was well-liked but closed after 15 months. It then became Associated, with Ford and two others retaining the pizza in the same location and adding tacos in more of a bar setting. He announced he was making an amicable departure from Associated in early January to focus on Pizzeria sul Lago — which should open in early March.
