A year and change after opening in downtown Portland, Pop Bagel is set to get a second location in the Pearl District, not too far away from the SW Oak Street original.
An Eater tipster notes that Pop will move into the Gregory Building, taking over the space where catering company GP Kitchen had its storefront, at NW 10th and Glisan.
Pop Bagel is a creation of the owner of popular patisserie Nuvrei, Marius Pop, focusing on pretzel-style bagels done as sandwiches or with schmears, including creations such as the kimchi bagel sandwich, and bagels with a range of coatings. The location also serves Heart coffee, and some Nuvrei items.
And whether coincidentally or deliberately, Pop Bagel’s new location is almost directly across from the mothership, Nuvrei.
Confirming the news, the bakery’s creative director Jessica Ridson tells Eater that the new location will be a bigger operation, with an expanded menu as well as seating, in contrast to the small original which is very much a grab-and-go spot.
According to Ridson, the new location is expected to open in March.
