Ranch Pizza, which provides the new bar’s sauce-laden slices, announced on Facebook today that customers are now welcome at “the weirdest new bar in town.” Ranch Pizza, a delivery pop-up that celebrates the divisive dressing and thick, Detroit-meets-Sicilian style pizza, will also open its own brick-and-mortar on NE Dekum Street later this year.
“We are beyond excited to announce that Poison’s Rainbow is open!” Ranch Pizza’s Instagram post reads. “Thanks for the love & patience, pizza babes!”
The bar’s official account followed a few hours later.
The pizza shop and bar inhabits what used to be beloved dive Red Flag on 28th and Flanders. Ranch has pizza covered, but as for the bar itself, Poison’s Rainbow is keeping the dive spirit alive with seven house cocktails under $10, tall boys, and draft beer.
Decor has been Brock’s pet project, and various mosaic-style lamps hang from the ceiling, as well as a choice neon chandelier. Considering how wild the bar’s Instagram has been, the bar’s somewhat mellow interior — a few booths and tables, a tastefully small white tiger behind the bar — is almost a shock.
Nervous about a music man’s food chops? No need — restaurant group Title Bout, run by an impressive gang with Bunk, Pizza Jerk, and Ox on the collective resume, is on board for guidance. Plus, of course, Ranch Pizza.
Poison’s Rainbow is open Mondays through Fridays 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. and Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
