Canard, Gabriel Rucker’s highly anticipated casual wine bar next to Platonic-ideal-of-bistro Le Pigeon, is one of 2018’s most anticipated openings — and it sounds like it’s mere weeks away from ushering in the masses.
The restaurant’s Instagram account has posted mostly renovation updates, but a recent post announced its expected opening month with... a pun.
“Feeling just ducky about that mid-April opening,” the post reads, with an exuberant use of emoji as punctuation.
Rucker’s communications team confirms that the restaurant could be open as early as mid-April, which is amazing news for Le Pigeon’s devotees.
In case you’ve been living under a rock, Canard is the latest hot thing from Rucker and Le Pigeon’s co-owner and wine director Andy Fortgang. Think of it as Le Pigeon for the late-night crowd or the reservation averse: Canard will be more casual, with standing room and seats to accommodate around 40. Unlike Le P, Canard will have a full bar, with cocktails and French bar snacks.
As for an official opening date, that one is still up in the air.
