Du’s Is Now Slinging Teriyaki in Hillsboro

The beloved teriyaki joint opened its new shop Monday

Sandy teriyaki destination Du’s Grill is now open in the ‘burbs.

On Monday, the restaurant’s Facebook page posted a photo of the open door at Du’s Grill Westside, located in Hillsboro at 185th. This is the restaurant’s second location in more than 20 years of business.

Willamette Week once called Du’s teriyaki “the best Korean teriyaki in the known universe,” and the disciples of this extremely popular chicken-and-rice joint tend to agree: Its massive servings of teriyaki chicken finished on the indoor charcoal grill have been a Portland tradition since its opening.

The new location’s main draw is its Saturday hours — the original Du’s location has always been closed on the weekends, to the distress of many loyalists. The food itself, however, should taste pretty similar to the original — owner Anthony Park specifically sought out the same equipment for the new kitchen for the sake of consistency.

Park decided to open the restaurant in Hillsboro to keep significant distance from the Northeast Sandy location, but also to keep things somewhat close to his roots.

“I was actually born and raised on the west side; my whole family’s from Beaverton,” Park said. “Ever since my family opened the restaurant, we always had it in mind that we wanted to open another location somewhere close to home.”
