Spring 2018 is for new Italian food, wine bars, and hotel restaurants: As Il Solito at Hotel Vintage and King Tide at Kimpton Riverplace gear up for upcoming openings, Rosswood opened quietly on the South Waterfront April 5, the day after The Porter opened its new restaurants. Rosswood, next door to the River’s Edge Hotel, specializes in vaguely Mediterranean, sort of American dining three meals each day, from ricotta pancakes in the morning to smoked salmon orzo with squid ink butter in the evening.
As the weather improves, guests can hang out on the restaurant’s two outdoor patios for dishes like mushroom toast with caramelized onion, a farro bowl with edamame, pickled chili, chimichurri, and a sunny egg, and salt-roasted beets. The cocktail menu, while deceptively simple with a dry martini and a Manhattan, ventures into uncharted waters, pairing Suntory Whisky Toki with honey vinegar and black truffle in the Sly Man cocktail.
The space was designed to center around the water, with large floor-to-ceiling windows and high ceilings. Take a look at the interior below:
