Look Inside Gabriel Rucker’s Canard Before It Opens Monday

Gabriel Rucker’s restaurant is bright and playful

Two-time James Beard winner Gabriel Rucker and celebrated wine mind Andy Fortgang’s highly anticipated wine bar, Canard, is set to open Monday, April 16, and the space is finally ready for guests. Mark Annen (Bar Avignon, Noble Rot, Pok Pok) designed the restaurant, utilizing the restaurant’s naturally high ceilings and large glass windows.

Lots of natural light illuminates the restaurant’s marble-topped bar, which is where bartender Aaron Zieske will craft his playful cocktails with foie-gras fat-washed bourbon and caper brine. Rucker will be in the kitchen often, crafting foie gras dumplings and uni Texas toast. For those interested in watching the show, the restaurant has a long chef’s counter toward the back, as well as a leather banquette.

Vintage touches — light fixtures, for instance — line the space, with nods to various Parisian wine bars. Take a look inside below:
