A New Record-Happy Brunch Pop-Up Is Coming to SE Hawthorne

DJs spin while guests guzzle tomatillo bloody marys

A new party is coming to SE Hawthorne, and this one has bloody marys. Starting May 6, Anna Russell and Shannon Nolan (Kouzina) will take over casual Greek kitchen Kouzina on Sundays for a Tokyo Record Bar-style brunch pop-up, complete with rotating DJs and weekly menus. Turning Tables Bistro will pair classic records with a prix-fixe brunch menu, featuring a local DJ and menu items like buttermilk biscuits with Sicilian-inspired mushroom gravy, spring salad greens with potato latkes and poached eggs, and a polenta and semolina lemon cake. With your $40 ticket, you’ll also get two brunch cocktails, from roasted tomatillo bloody marys to the Betty Lou, a grapefruit mimosa with a touch of Aperol spritz.

Seatings are strict at 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.; the party is over if you show up late, and you won’t get a refund or biscuits. Reserve a spot at turningtablesbistro.com. Turning Tables Bistro runs through August, with the first four events located at 4612 SE Hawthorne Blvd.
