Loaded cheeseburger joint and bar Tilt is opening its third location on the east side next door to the Burnside Skatepark, but a street is not just what they’ll share. Tilt co-owner Octavian Jurj says the spot is very much inspired by the park — in fact, the bar itself will be a giant concrete pipe in the industrial-style space.
“The location is very tied to the skate park next door. We’ve collaborated with those guys quite a bit on this project,” Jurj said. Most Tilt locations have an industrial vibe, but co-owners Octavian and Brittany Jurj redesigned this space to remove some of the kinks from the Swan Island and Pearl locations. “It’s a completely new design compared to what we do in the Pearl,” he said. That means custom-fabricated tables and barstools, new lights, and seating for more than 140 inside and another 35 to 40 on the outside patio. During the summers, the walls will open up onto the patio for serious al fresco dining.
The design isn’t the only thing getting a twist. Jurj said the menu is going to get some minor tweaks, including more versions of its fried chicken burger ‘freebird.’ Still, he said guests should expect many of the restaurant’s same sandwiches, stacked with toppings like grilled pineapple, pastrami, and jalapeno slaw. Tilt 3 probably will open sometime in the next two months, but until then, the restaurant’s other locations will remain open. Tilt 3 will be located at 22 NE 2nd Ave, Suite 100.
