Williams Coffee Shop Either/Or Will Begin Serving Cocktails Thursday

No need to choose between coffee and cocktails, Portland: N Williams coffee bar Either/Or is opening an evening bar program starting May 31, with the help of Ian Wilson of shuttered Scandinavian spot Fenrir, Angela Fink of Woodstock mainstay Lutz Tavern, and Tyler Hauptman of Pizza Jerk and Fenrir. The cafe expanded to Williams earlier this month, bringing its popular coffee mocktails and flights from its Sellwood location. The new spot opened with food and coffee May 19, but its late-night service won’t begin until Thursday.

The food will be a far stretch from Fenrir, with dishes like Taiwanese-style pork belly and classic bar foods like burgers and nachos. In the evenings, Hauptman will pour the wine, bartenders will shake drinks, and djs will play hip hop and soul. Either/Or has already taken some flak for its music choices, with a very tasteful public response for some serious “hip hop is the devil’s music” nonsense. (Seriously? People still complain about hip hop being “stupid” after Kendrick Lamar won the Pulitzer?)

For now, the coffee bar is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with food from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Stay tuned for menus, more food details, and more.
