Former Top Chef contestant and king of smoke B.J. Smith is heading to Brunchville. Smokehouse Tavern and its sister across the river Smokehouse Provisions are now in the brunch game, loading blistered tortillas with eggs and fire-roasted salsas. Daily brunch service runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. with libations like Modelo cheladas and bloody marys, paired with some ridiculous breakfast tacos. Each taco comes with scrambled eggs, cheddar, pickled jalapenos, and fire-roasted salsa, with smoky choices like smoked brisket, pulled pork, or avocado. For heartier eaters, a breakfast burrito arrives stocked with brisket chile verde, barbecue beans, fries, scrambled eggs, and cheddar. That same brisket chile verde appears on smothered chilequiles — like breakfast nachos — with chile lime, queso fresco, pickled onions, and, of course, fried eggs. Smith owns both of those Smokehouses, as well as Kim Jong Smokehouse with Kim Jong Grillin’s Han Ly Hwang.
