Though Hey Love, the hotly anticipated bar from industry veterans Emily Mistell, Sophie Thomson, Nicholas Musso and Aaron Hall in the newly constructed Jupiter Hotel Next isn’t open yet, the lobby cafe, Hey Love Superette, opened its doors this morning. The cafe is already buzzing, serving up Fleur de Lis pastries, Rishi Tea and Botanicals teas, and coffee from the lauded Proud Mary Coffee, including a CBD infused latte.
Guests looking for a cocktail will have to wait until August (most likely), but until then the cafe is open every day from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. The modern, spacious lobby sports a minimalist vibe, lined with windows and filled with assorted potted plants. Baristas sling espresso drinks from behind a long wooden bar with high-backed stools, and two lounge areas offer ample seating. Upstairs offers another lounge, as well as a long work table, with windows overlooking Burnside and The Doug Fir.
According to Mistell and Hall this is only the first phase—later, one lounge will be converted into more of a cafe space, and the drink menu will be expanded to include fresh juices, non-alcoholic slushies, CBD sodas, and other drinks, as well as some cocktails once the bar opens for business. It will also see expanded hours, to 10 p.m., and will be open 365 days a year, as will Hey Love. Until then, stop into 920 E Burnside Street for some coffee drinks and to check out the new space.
