The gang behind hip Vietnamese spots Short Round and Fish Sauce have opened a house-made frozen yogurt shop and boba tea counter, according to an announcement on its Instagram. Boba Milk specializes in frozen yogurt with out-there flavors like roasted beet, as well as a number of boba tea varieties.
Last summer, the team announced plans to open on Short Round’s Instagram account, reblogging the newly minted account for Boba Milk. The cafe would serve hard-scoop frozen yogurt it began serving at its other restaurant, Fish Sauce. In July 2018, owner Ben Bui provided more details: Boba Milk would serve Fish Sauce’s flavors like passionfruit, carrot cake, and roasted beet. Alongside the yogurt and non-powdered boba teas, Short Round bar manager KJ DeBoer would design drinks like golden milk, chai, and horchata, with local bartenders crafting rotating drink specials for the shop.
Flavors teased on the scoop shop’s Instagram range from chocolate raspberry ganache to ginger with roasted black sesame. The shop is located in the former Musubi space on SE Division; the Hawaiian take-out restaurant closed in 2018. The cafe is open from Sunday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
