The chocolate-loving Portland candymakers at Alma have decided to close its SE 7th location, according to a Facebook post on the company’s Facebook page. The chocolate company currently has two locations on either side of East Burnside: The flagship store on NE 28th, and another location farther south on SE 7th. The Southern location will close September 7.
“It was kind of a matter of growth originally. We moved here to find more space to do what we’re doing,” says Alma’s Lawson Wakeman. “[The SE location] has come to not fit our needs necessarily.” While the Facebook post reads as if the team is looking for a new location, chocolatier Sarah Hart says the company is “not actively looking for a new storefront.” For now, you can grab one of those matcha mint chocolate bars at 140 NE 28th.

This story has been updated with new information about the company’s plans. Alma is not looking to replace the closed location.
