The chocolate-loving Portland candymakers at Alma have decided to close its SE 7th location, according to a Facebook post on the company’s Facebook page. The chocolate company currently has two locations on either side of East Burnside: The flagship store on NE 28th, and another location farther south on SE 7th. The Southern location will close September 7.
“It was kind of a matter of growth originally. We moved here to find more space to do what we’re doing,” says Alma’s Lawson Wakeman. “[The SE location] has come to not fit our needs necessarily.” While the Facebook post reads as if the team is looking for a new location, chocolatier Sarah Hart says the company is “not actively looking for a new storefront.” For now, you can grab one of those matcha mint chocolate bars at 140 NE 28th.
