It’s Friday, which means it’s time for the weekly EaterWire round up of all those news items we didn’t quite cover. This week’s food news cycle was dominated by two incoming restaurants from the teams at Ataula and Shalom Y’all, but a few stories did fall through the cracks. Read on for more:
AGAINST THE GRAIN — Grain & Gristle, the sustainable meat-centric NE Prescott restaurant, has sold to new owners. Don’t expect much of a change, however; the restaurant, owned by the folks behind Upright Brewing and the now-closed Old Salt Marketplace, has sold to two other Old Salt vets. [New School]
CIBO ECONOMICA — Good news for the broke gourmands: Italian spot Renata has made some new budget-friendly changes. The restaurant has extended its happy hour from 5 p.m. to 6:30, Monday through Saturday and all day on Sunday, and added a new “chef’s bar” prix fixe: For $25, diners can get a glass of wine, salad, pizza or pasta, a dessert. [EaterWire]
BEER BUYER — Portland’s Laurelwood Brewing, which recently closed its Sellwood-Moreland brewpub, just sold most of its assets to Legacy Breweries; Legacy is the parent company behind Eugene’s Ninkasi. That being said, Laurelwood owners Mike De Kalb and Cathy Woo-De Kalb will keep the Northeast Portland pub and operate it with a license from Legacy. [O]
