Alberta’s beloved neighborhood brewery continues to expand across Portland. Great Notion, known for its hazy IPAs and out-there stouts, will open a new location in Cedar Mill early next year.
As the Oregonian first reported, Great Notion’s third location will have 20 taps, a small food menu, and beer for sale in the Timberland Shopping Center. The menu is still in development, but co-founder Paul Reiter told the paper that the Great Notion team will be sampling beers out of a nearby tent before the brewpub opens. The space will have 2,000 square feet, with garage doors that will open onto a stone beer garden.
Great Notion opened its first brewery in 2016 on Northeast Alberta, quickly developing a following for its oak-barrel-aged beers. In 2018, the brewery’s Double Stack stout won a gold medal in the specialty beer category at the World Beer Cup; since then, the brewery has expanded rapidly: Great Notion opened its second brewery in Northwest Portland this year, complete with a coffee shop, sandwiches, and a full production facility. The brewery’s new location will be located at 230 NW Lost Spring Terrace, Suite 10.
