Portland has yet another new spot for tacos. Tacovore, the Portland outpost of a popular Eugene-based taqueria, has opened on Fremont with everything from mole verde tacos to tempeh chorizo rice bowls.
News broke this summer that popular Eugene taqueria Tacovore was heading to Portland, filling tortillas in the former Fire & Stone space. Tacovore is known for its accessibility in its hometown — of its 11 tacos, four are meat-free, and three of those meat-free tacos are vegan. The restaurant’s menu is entirely gluten-free, as well, and tortillas can be swapped with butter lettuce for those on low-carb diets. The restaurant is also kid-friendly, with a kid’s menu featuring “grilled cheese tacos.”
In general, Tacovore’s tacos are heavily accessorized, topped with various slaws, cremas, and pickled vegetables. The restaurant’s grilled chicken taco, for instance, arrives with onion, cilantro, avocado, arugula, and pickled onions and carrots. Meanwhile, its carnitas tacos comes with orange, serrano chiles, jicama, cilantro, onions, and crema. Take a look at the menu below:
