Someone Keeps Smashing The Fireside’s Windows

The NW 23rd restaurant and bar has been vandalized twice in the last two weeks

Fireside/Facebook

Sometime in the early hours of Sunday morning, a vandal smashed in almost every window of The Fireside, the cozy restaurant and cocktail bar on NW 23rd. A neighbor reported seeing a man with a crowbar, but couldn’t provide a robust enough description for the police to use.

Someone has bashed in the windows of Fireside twice in the last two weeks; the first time, the vandal set off an alarm, but no one saw the perpetrator. This time, a cleaner was in the kitchen wearing headphones, so the alarms were disabled; still, he didn’t see anything. No other businesses or buildings have reported vandalization, which could mean someone is targeting Fireside.

Fireside suspended its brunch service on Sunday to clean up the glass and replace windows, but was open again at 3 p.m. for happy hour and dinner service. Managers posted a magnanimous piece to Facebook, referring to the vandal as a “tortured soul,” but asked for anyone with any information to contact the restaurant at connect@pdxfireside.com. This is a developing story and will be updated with any further information.
