Eggs Benedict Sandwiches Are Coming to SE Morrison Saturday [Updated]

Brunch Box, the popular downtown burger cart-turned-restaurant, is opening a new location in the Modera building on April 20, of course

Egg-topped burgers, eggs Benedict sandwiches, and bloody marys are coming to the Modera Belmont building this week. Brunch Box, the downtown cart-turned-restaurant specializing in elaborately decked-out burgers, will open its second restaurant this Saturday on SE Morrison, with an expanded menu, cocktails, and plenty of seating.

Owner Derek Coughlin says the new restaurant will double the downtown location’s existing breakfast options, including a number of what he calls “Benedict sandwiches” — egg breakfast sandwiches with hollandaise on English muffins. He’s also excited about a breakfast sandwich called the Benny Bacon Bagel Burger, a bacon cheeseburger with a fried egg and hollandaise served on a bagel.

The restaurant will also serve beer and cocktails, including a bloody marys, screwdrivers, and whiskey drinks. For those who want to skip the booze, Brunch Box SE will have a number of non-alcoholic cocktails and drinks, including fruit punch, limeade, and a mysterious teal-colored “opal-ade.”

The restaurant will seat right under 50 people, with electronic ordering kiosks and an app for online ordering — the restaurant will have counter-service workers, as well, for the luddites. The restaurant will begin serving customers on April 20, with half-priced milkshakes, a grilled cheese eating contest, and a celebratory toast at 4:20 p.m. What a fitting opening date for a restaurant that uses grilled cheese sandwiches for burger buns.
