In a week packed with union stories, incoming restaurant news, and one tepid reopening, several significant stories slipped by until today, Eater Portland’s news roundup day. From a new chef at a vegan destination to a new food cart pod in Portland’s up-and-coming neighborhood, today’s EaterWire has some juicy tidbits. Let’s dig in.

PARTNER IN VEG — Aaron Adams, the chef and owner of vegan tasting menu spot Farm Spirit, now has a new co-chef. Scott Winegard, who spent years at buzzy vegan restaurant Matthew Kenney Cuisine, will take over the savory elements of the tasting menu at Farm Spirit, while Adams transitions into desserts and pastry work. SLAB CARTS — Slabtown will get a new food cart pod sometime this spring. Located at the corner of NW 23rd and NW Roosevelt, Slabtown Food Carts will open with four carts, but Edge Development, the company behind the new pod, is keeping most of the details under wraps until the big reveal. Stay tuned for more updates. [EaterWire]

SPRING POPS UP — Portland felt... a little spring-ier this week, so the warm-weather pop-ups are now in full force. This weekend, beloved shave ice brand Wailua is heading to the Pearl Tea Bar location for a collaboration: Starting at noon Saturday, the company will sling vanilla rose and vegan coconut mint Majik shave ice until sold out. Tea Bar NW is located at 1055 NW Northrup. [EaterWire]
