Foster-Powell Nabs Yet Another Pizzeria This Week

Even more pizza has arrived in Foster-Powell. Atlas Pizza, the Portland pizzeria chainlet with locations on SE Division and N Killingsworth, has opened a location next door to the brand-new cocktail bar 5 & Dime, with pinball, ice cream, and cool cocktails accompanying various elaborate pies.

This third Atlas location is similar to its siblings, with pinball machines, beer, pizza, and cookies, but its real draw is its relationship with 5 & Dime — guests can order cheap cocktails from the big-deal bartender’s new bar to drink alongside their meatball-topped pizzas. That relationship is reciprocal: 5 & Dime customers can also order pizzas from Atlas, to be eaten inside the sleek new bar late into the evening. Atlas will also deliver throughout Southeast Portland.

Atlas got the ball rolling in 2014, when the first pizzeria opened in Southeast Portland — the Killingsworth location followed three years later. The restaurants specialize in slices and whole pizzas that go wild with the toppings, like the Titan: pesto, feta, artichoke hearts, mushrooms, tomatoes, and garlic. Atlas also offers build-your-own pies, garlic knots, and the usual pizzeria classics.

This is the third pizza place to open in Foster-Powell within the last year: Char opened on SE 60th in July, and Assembly Brewing began slinging its Detroit-style pizzas in March. The neighborhood has been having a moment in general: Beyond 5 & Dime, Foster-Powell is now home to multiple food cart pods, the buzzy drive-thru Super Deluxe, and Eater 38 stalwart Rose VL Deli.
