The summer opening blitz is in full-force, from Indonesian cafe Wajan to the highly-anticipated Hat Yai sibling. So while some Portlanders will be waltzing into fine dining spot Berlu for its first weekend or devouring bibimbap at the new Lloyd Center spot, there are a few more updates to keep in the back pocket before the workday ends:
KARGI HOUR — Kargi Gogo, the cheerful Georgian cafe on Alberta, is now offering a happy hour, complete with $6 glasses of orange (“amber”) wine, $6 khachapuri, and off-kilter snacks like $8 “Georgian nachos” and $6 “Svanetian Tater Tots.” Happy hour runs from 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays. FAT SUPERMARKET — Shun Fat, an Asian supermarket chain, has opened a location on SE 82nd and Foster Road today. The Supermarket, which boasts a wide selection of fruit, live seafood, and frozen dumplings, shares a space with various other small businesses, including a jewelry counter and a furniture shop. NICK’S REVAMPED CONEY ISLAND — Nick’s Famous Coney Island now has new owners, though not much will change. Dave Bertelo and Nick Brown, who also own Haymaker on Killingsworth, plan on giving the bathroom a little remodel to make it more accessible to folks with disabilities, maybe sprucing up the game room, and making very slight changes to the menu (think: picking a more consistent frank, or using house-smoked meat for the Reuben).
