Bar Norman Opens a Tiny Wine Shop Within Vivienne
Bar Norman recently reopened as a bottle shop on SE Clinton, but sommelier Dana Frank is already expanding, opening a tiny satellite shop at the Hollywood District cafe. Starting October 24, Vivienne will host “Petite Norman,” a 20-wine selection picked by Frank that are all $21 or less. Customers can visit the walk-up window and order wine, as well as Vivienne’s take-home meals, pastries, sandwiches, and pantry items. The wines will be available Wednesdays through Sundays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. [EaterWire]
An Artisanal Pizzeria Lands in Northeast Portland
The restaurateur behind Italian chain Pizzicato has opened a pizzeria in the former Autentica space. Biga uses a three-day cold-ferment dough as the foundation for pies, topped with everything from figs to wild mushrooms to Buffalo mozzarella. The pizzeria has been open for about two months at 5507 NE 30th; the restaurant is open for delivery and takeout. [Oregonian]
Oregon Wins 22 Medals at the Great American Beer Festival
One of the largest brewing competitions nationwide, the Great American Beer Festival held its 2020 award ceremony online. Oregon brewers claimed 22 medals, including nine gold — As for the Portlanders, Breakside’s Gose took home top honors in the German-style sour ale category and Ex Novo’s Perle Haggard won first prize in the Bohemian-style pilsner category.
