La Bonita: Food For The People, a Portland-based, family-owned mini-chain of casual Mexican restaurants, will open a new location in the space vacated by Bar Avignon on SE Division Street. The new location will deliver the same fast counter service as the other locations, with a menu of burritos, tacos, and tamales.

La Bonita has been a Northeast Portland fixture for the almost two decades it’s spent on NE Alberta Street. The restaurant also operates a location on North Killingsworth, and both are known for their burritos, available drenched in mole or simply stuffed with things like carnitas or carne asada. This incoming location will be the company’s only location in Southeast Portland.

Currently the space is undergoing some minor decor changes — the space will get a light update to match the other La Bonitas’ sunny decor, plus a contained, open kitchen and a counter. The shop will seat 34, and is set to open by the end of March at 2138 SE Division Street.
