It’s Friday, which means it’s time for the weekly EaterWire round up of all those news items we didn’t quite cover. This week involved a mysterious new food hall and an incoming bakery with laminated brioche cinnamon rolls, but a few stories did fall through the cracks:
WASHINGTON BREWERY — Barlows Brewery opened a new taproom last weekend, joining its other location on the waterfront; Barlows Public House opened in August. The brewery offers a selection of lagers, IPAs, and saisons; the new location is at 705 S.E. Park Crest Avenue, Suite D430. [O]
MENU ART — Patrick Nguyen, known for his Instagram Dozfy, will be doing live menu paintings around Portland for Portland Dining Month, giving away 100 pieces of menu art each night between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. Nguyen will start at Bullard on March 5, followed by Kachka on March 6. [EaterWire]
NEW YEAR, NEW HIGGINS — Old-school Portland destination Higgins has gone through a makeover, unveiling the new look on March 4. The restaurant got a fresh coat of paint, turned the tinned ceiling a sky blue, and mounted a wooden pig to one of the walls. His name? Pig Floyd. [EaterWire]
