It’s Friday, which means it’s time for the weekly EaterWire round up of all those news items we didn’t quite cover. This week was all about a bartender running for congress and a chef appearing on Guy’s Grocery Games, but a few stories did fall through the cracks:
FRIED EGG I’M IN NOPO — Perpetually busy egg sandwich shop/cart Fried Egg I’m in Love has opened a new cart in Mississippi food cart pod Prost Marketplace. The cart is tucked between Matt’s BBQ and the cocktail cart Bloodbuzz, and will be serving its punny egg sandwiches this weekend. [Oregonian]
WHAT’S WOVEN — Interwoven, the chef collaboration dinner series from Kachka chef Bonnie Morales, returns this year with some real talent. Rachel Yang of Seattle’s Joule will cook with Morales in March, followed by Brandon Jew of San Francisco’s Mister Jiu’s in June. In October, Adam Evans of Birmingham’s Automatic Seafood & Oysters comes to town, with Edouardo Jordan of Seattle’s Junebaby finishing things out in December. Each multi-course dinner costs $100; or dates and tickets, visit Kachka’s website. [EaterWire]
BAGEL BITES — Pop Bagel’s Pearl District location will give out 500 pizza bagels to anyone who donates $2 or more to Meals on Wheels Sunday. The fundraiser runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., or sold out. [EaterWire]
NO PHO — Months after beginning their residency at cocktail bar Lulu, Matta’s Richard Le and Jojo’s Justin Hintze will begin serving a monthly multi-course brunch at the bar with Jinju pastry stars Jin Caldwell and Kyurim Lee. Starting March 1, “86 Pho” will include things like Saigon fried chicken and pandan waffles. The first seating is sold out, so those interested should keep an eye out for more seatings. [Portland Monthly]
MERKLEY JERKY — As the impeachment trial came to a close this week, Senator Jeff Merkley told New York that his go-to impeachment snack was a combo of ice cubes and beef jerky. That’s almost as bleak as, well, the whole thing. [NY]
