It’s Friday, which means it’s time for the weekly a.m. intel round up of all those news items we didn’t quite cover. This week mainly focused on the impact of COVID-19 on Portland restaurants, but a few stories did fall through the cracks:
BURGER TIME — Last month, Stoopid Burger closed its Kerns restaurant. However, co-owner John Hunt is getting back in the burger game, opening a burger cart. The burgers will be way mellower than the other restaurant, served alongside shakes and hand-cut fries. Union Burger will open on NE Stafford and Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd on March 21. [WWeek]
HAPPY HOUR — Slabtown’s G-Love started serving happy hour this week, with food, cocktails, $3 beers, $8 glasses of wine, and $2 Jell-O shots. The restaurant’s crusty avocado, braised mushrooms, and fingerling potatoes all appear on the menu, as well as the femme fatale and special sauce cocktails. Happy hour runs from 5 to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. [EaterWire]
PIZZA NIGHT — NW Broadway’s Bowery Bagels has started selling pizza dough through New Seasons markets. Starting today, groceries across Portland will sell the vegan and kosher pizza dough for flatbreads, pizzas, calzones, and breadsticks to make at home. [EaterWire]
