Fulamingo Launches Its Menu of Japanese Deli Snacks

Last year, the promising Southeast Portland Japanese deli, Giraffe Goods, closed for good, which meant its popular shokupan egg salad and katsu sandwiches disappeared as well. Eventually, owner Kana Hinohara Hanson launched an online Japanese grocery with her husband, Erik Hanson, selling Calbee chips and shoyu for local delivery. Now, the online grocery includes a menu of hot and cold dishes — including the original Giraffe egg salad sandwich. The menu has much more than that, however: Hot bowls of gyuu-don (a Japanese beef-and-onion dish), onigiri filled with pickled plums, and seaweed-and-tofu salads also appear on the deli’s takeout menu. Customers order by calling or texting (971) 325-2889, picking up orders at the Gotham Building — 2240 N Interstate. The menu is available for lunch, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Wednesdays through Sundays. Base Camp Will Not Reopen in Southeast Portland

Justin Fay, the owner of Base Camp Brewing, has decided to sell his business after closing indefinitely last summer. The brewery won’t reopen in its current location, but Fay is hoping someone will buy the business and its gear, to reopen in a new location. The brewery has been open since 2012. [O]
