With the weather taking a cold turn and nights getting longer, Portlanders are ducking into restaurants to enjoy drinks or a cozy meal indoors. With its reputation as a cold and rainy place, Portland has always housed a number of restaurants and bars with fireplaces, places where people can sip stouts or soups by the warm crackle of the flame. Many, many Portland restaurants and bars are home to patios with outdoor fire pits, from EastBurn to the Rambler; this map specifically focuses on restaurants with indoor fireplaces, although a few spots on this map also have outdoor fire pit options for those who feel uneasy dining indoors. This map also skips over restaurants with wood-burning ovens in the kitchen — lovely, but they’re not exactly what we’re going for here. Per usual, this map is not ranked; it’s organized geographically.
Note: Health experts consider dining out to be a high-risk activity for the unvaccinated; it may pose a risk for the vaccinated, especially in areas with substantial COVID transmission. The latest CDC guidance is here; find a COVID-19 vaccination site here.
