Normally, the arrival of warmer and sunnier days invites Portlanders to explore our food cart scene, where vegans and vegetarians can choose from vibrant veggie bowls, messy meatless barbecue sandwiches, and other animal-free snacks. However, dining at cart pods is not currently an option, due to the coronavirus pandemic and social distancing restrictions. Down the line, Portland’s food cart pods could become some of the first spots people can sit and eat when the city begins to reopen, but for now, several food carts have quickly adapted to online ordering, takeout, and delivery. The list below includes vegan and vegetarian food carts that are currently open for customers to grab a meal to enjoy safely at home.
As the situation with COVID-19 is ever-changing, it’s always best to contact each cart directly or keep an eye on social media for current status updates. More carts are likely to reopen soon, including a new vegan fried “chicken” cart. More meatless dining can be found on Eater’s guide of vegan and vegetarian restaurants offering delivery and takeout.
