Pizza for breakfast? Bring it. It's all the things you could want in the morning — often, eggs, bacon, potatoes, sausage — only served on dough with melted cheese. What could be better than that? Here are the pie joints and Italian restaurants around town that are offering pizza in the morning, some with eggs, some with bacon, and some just with the morning feel. And maybe instead of a side of marinara or ranch, ask for Hollandaise. Yep, world's best idea, ever.

At Sunshine, you'll find "brunchish" items every day on the lunch menu, but it would be hard to pass up the olive oil-based pizza with hen egg, parmesan, and wild oregano. But, you can also add an egg to any pie for two bucks. [Photo]

2. Hammy's Pizza

You'll have to wait for a late brunch at 4p.m. — or a very early brunch after the bars close — for this morning pizza (Hammy's is open until 4a.m.). The Breakfast Pie comes stacked with roasted potatoes, herbed scrambled eggs, and bacon on a creamy garlic base, finished with a Tapatio drizzle. [Photo]

3. Oven & Shaker

1134 NW Everett St
Portland, OR 97209
(503) 241-1600

At Oven & Shaker, it isn't just a boring old hen's egg available to add to any of the pizzas (not that we don't love 'em); pies are topped with a rich yolky duck egg for $4. Eater suggests the pork belly, Brussels sprout, garlic, lemon, and robiola with the extra a.m. addition as the ideal brunch pie: The restaurant opens daily at 11:30a.m. [Photo]

4. Hot Lips Pizza

With all five area locations open for lunch, Hot Lips has got your pizza brunching needs on lock, especially since you can add smoked bacon to any pie you'd like. Eater's pick? We'd go for the ABC: artichoke hearts, bacon, and house smoked chicken. [Photo]

5. Lucca

Brunch on Sundays at Lucca offers traditional options like eggs Benedict and French toast, but a pancetta and egg pizza with caramelized onions and four cheeses would be our pick for a weekend hangover cure. Diners can also add an egg to any pie for only a buck and a half. [Photo]

6. Sizzle Pie

Open everyday at 11a.m. — serving a full brunch menu with pies topped with scrambled eggs and morning meats — breakfast pizza is easy here. Our favorite: the "Brunchwulf" with bacon, eggs, and hashbrowns, paired with a "Sizzle Mary," the most pizza-ish bloody in Portland. [Photo]

7. Life of Pie

Life of Pie's lunch menu is served daily starting at 11a.m. There isn't a breakfast-y pizza per se, but just ask, and the kitchen will add an egg for a dollar. We'd say the bacon, goat cheese, and leek pizza would pair quite nicely with some runny yolk. [Photo]

8. Pizzicato

With many area locations open at 11a.m., for brunch you might order the Patate e Prosciutto with roasted rosemary potatoes, Italian ham, mushrooms, and smoked mozzarella. You could always add your own eggs at home? [Photo]

Like at Oven & Shaker, Cathy Whims will top any pizza with an egg (here, they're regular old farm eggs available for an extra $2). Eater endorses the Calabrese salami and tomato pie, normally sweet-and-spicy with its Mama Lil’s peppers and drizzle of honey. [Photo]
