Thanksgiving this year may have a somewhat somber tone — as COVID-19 rates continue to rise horrifically fast, many are opting to stay home rather than have a family gathering that could endanger safety. But for those looking for some comfort in these times, pies are a good way to go, especially after a turkey dinner. From the standards like pumpkin and apple to the more wild, here are a number of bakeries, restaurants, and cafes offering pies for pickup. Many of these places have cut-offs for ordering, but also may sell out, so putting in orders sooner than later is generally advised. Per usual, this map is organized geographically, and is not ranked.

Where to Pre-Order a Pie for Thanksgiving in Portland
The bakeries, restaurants, and cafes selling takeout pies for Thanksgiving 2020

Baker & Spice
A bakery out on Capitol Highway, Baker and Spice has a large array of Thanksgiving dessert offerings, from classic pumpkin pies and double-crusted apple pies to chocolate cream pies and savory galettes. Additionally, the bakery has other Thanksgiving baked good like scones, croissants, and maple twists. Baker and Twist has a helpful website for ordering, and all orders must be placed by November 22, with pickup times on Tuesday and Wednesday of Thanksgiving week.
Jinju Patisserie
A stylish bakery known for its flaky pastries and array of colorful and creative chocolates and desserts, Jinju Patisserie is bringing its hit Thanksgiving specials from last year back to 2020. The pumpkin pies are decorated with curling swirls of cinnamon spice cream and caramel Chantilly cream, as well as chocolate plaques and edible gold flakes; they clock in at $45 each. Additionally, the shop is offering a pumpkin cheesecake for $50. Customers can order both by texting (503) 828-7728 with the order, name, and pickup times for either November 24 or November 25.
Pacific Pie Company
Living up to its name, Pacific Pie Company offers all of the obligatory Thanksgiving desserts — classic apple, pumpkin, pecan, and a host of others, all at $35, including a refundable $5 deposit for a glass pie pan. However, the bakery also offers a selection of savory holiday pies for $26 (no glass), so those looking to escape cooking can find turkey pies, gluten-free beef cottage pie, vegan and gluten-free lentil shepherd’s pie, and other meatier options. The menu is online and orders can be placed by emailing catering@pacificpieco.com.
Papa Haydn
A storied restaurant and bakery with two locations in town, Papa Haydn is better known for its many cakes than for pie. However, this month it will serve a number of holiday specials, including maple gingerbread cake, English toffee cheesecake, and a pretty stellar fresh cranberry walnut tart. Other specials include holiday cookie boxes and a host of mini desserts for entertaining (safely, please). Pre-orders are available online through November 20, with pickup time on Tuesday and Wednesday before Thanksgiving.
Grand Central Bakery - Hawthorne cafe
A local bakery group, Grand Central Bakery will have all of its locations open the day before Thanksgiving for order pickups. In addition to pies like pumpkin, bourbon pecan, apple, and marionberry, there’s also rolls, biscuits, and coffee cake for the morning. Orders are available online starting November 13, and must be filled by November 21, and the menu is available here.
Montelupo Italian Market
An Italian marketplace might not be the most obvious choice for Thanksgiving dinner, but Montelupo has a number of pies for the holiday. The nine-inch pies available include pumpkin mascarpone, cranberry curd, and salted caramel pecan pies, as well as a few others. Those opting for a less “traditional” Thanksgiving dinner can find take-and-bake lasagna bolognese and a vegetarian pasta, as well as more traditional sides. Orders can be placed online, and must be submitted by November 22 for pickup on November 24 and November 25.
Lauretta Jean's
One of the city’s most beloved pie shops, Lauretta Jean’s always pulls out the stops for Thanksgiving. The classics are all there, like heirloom apple and bourbon pecan, as well as some fun others like blackberry and raspberry streusel or key lime pie, each for $37. Orders can be placed online, and need to be filled by November 21 at 6 p.m., though sooner is later as specials have already begun to sell out.
Sweetheart Baking Company LLC
Sweetheart Baking Company, a custom cake and bakery across the river in Vancouver, has a number of specials for the holiday, listed on its Instagram page. Dutch apple, pumpkin, salted-caramel pecan, orange cranberry, and hazelnut rocky road are all available — orders can be placed by calling (360) 947-2593 before November 21, with pickup available on November 25 and 26.
Bakeshop
This chic bakery known for its whole-grain baked goods is getting ready for the holiday with some rustic specials. Besides the double-crust apple pie, old fashioned pecan pie, and a classic pumpkin, Bakeshop has a burnt Basque cheesecake and a brown butter apple pie with streusel. The desserts vary in price and can be ordered here.
Bipartisan Cafe
A cozy coffee shop and bakery that’s sat in Montavilla for many years, Bipartisan Cafe isn’t running anything special for the holiday. However, its fruit and pumpkin pies are always a solid choice, and are available to order online for Thanksgiving celebrations.
