After a whirlwind of a year, restaurants are implementing their final pivot of 2020: holiday meal kits so Portlanders can enjoy a celebratory meal safely at home. Those looking to support local restaurants and take a break from cooking can choose from a variety of holiday feasts and desserts for takeout. Portland’s vegan and vegetarian restaurants are serving seitan roasts, matzo ball soup, jackfruit lechon, and more, while vegan bakeries are slinging mini cinnamon rolls, candy cane cheesecake, and even a yule log chocolate cake.

This map features meatless restaurants and bakeries that have announced their holiday offerings and deadlines for pre-ordering. Others may rollout holiday specials too, so readers should check social media for more options. As usual, this map is organized geographically, not ranked.

A number of Portland restaurants have resumed outdoor dine-in service. The level of service offered is indicated on each map point. However, this should not be taken as endorsement for onsite dining, as there are still safety concerns: for updated information on coronavirus cases in your area, please visit the Oregon Health Authority’s COVID update page. Studies indicate that there is a lower exposure risk when outdoors, but the level of risk involved with patio dining is contingent on restaurants following strict social distancing and other safety guidelines.
