Where to Eat on Super Bowl Sunday

View as Map

Anywhere with a TV will have the Super Bowl on this Sunday. And it seems no bar — or restaurant with a bar — can open without a flat screen somewhere, so your chances of finding a seat to watch the Seahawks battle the Patriots are pretty high.

But what if you care just as much about the grub you plan to stuff in your face as the score? That's where this list comes in. We've rounded up a goodly number of places where the food is Super Bowl worthy.

This Belgian beer bar serves high-falutin' food like mussels and frites, and kale salad with pecorino. And on Super Bowl Sunday, they'll offer Happy Hour food and drinks, prizes, and beers on draft that represent their favorite breweries from both team states.

Bunk Bar

Bunk Bar on Water Avenue will project the big game on a giant screen and offer food and drink specials along with its usual menu. Meanwhile, Bunk Bar Wonder has three TVs to view the game on, and Alberta offers home delivery.

Deschutes Brewery & Public House

You can go fancy with entrees like braised lamb shanks and ribeyes with bacon-cheddar mashed potatoes, or go classic with pretzels dipped in cheese and juicy burgers. To wash it all down, chose from the brewery's large selection of classic and seasonal beers brewed in-house.

EastBurn

The gastropub on East Burnside turns into a veritable sportsbar on Super Bowl Sunday. They'll unleash a big movie screen in the main room, along with big screens in the Tap Room and on the Patio. They'll serve food and drink specials, or fill up on the restaurant's signature dishes, like lobster mac 'n cheese, or the Uber sandwich made with pork loin, potato pancake, scallion sour cream, caramelized onions, and bourbon-apple chutney. Pair it with a craft beer from the great tap list.

EaT: An Oyster Bar

Each year on Super Bowl Sunday, the oyster bar breaks out super bowls of its Cajun-style crawfish boil. It's fun, and messy, and goes great with one of the fried oyster po'boys.

Fat Head's Brewery

If you have a big appetite, head to Fat Head's. Sandwiches are jaw-breakers and filled to bursting with Midwestern comfort food (think fried, cheese-y and topped with gravy). On Sunday they'll be hosting happy hour specials all day, and the tap list is long and delicious.

George's Corner Sports Bar

This is a dive, yes, and the food isn't going win any big-name awards, but the fried chicken is universally accepted as some of the best in town. And George's is also known as one of the best places to watch the NFL. If you're looking for a down-home place to settle in for the game, this is it.[Photo: Dan Haneckow/Flickr]

NePo 42

This is the unofficially official gathering place for Portland's most avid Seahawks fans. It's also a place where you can indulge in bacon-topped chicken and waffles, biscuit sandwiches, and "Barnyard" fries topped with pulled pork. Craft cocktails and a stellar tap list with some unusual suspects rounds out the menu. Clearly Portland's Seahawks fans have good taste. [Photo]

Punch Bowl Social Food & Drink PDX

This big space above Pioneer Place mall is filled with games, TVs, and boasts tasty food and drink built on fresh, seasonal ingredients all made from scratch. The menus are big and bold with lots of twists: devilled eggs have coffee-bacon jam, the wedge salad comes with chive potato chips.

River Pig Saloon

This Pearl district craft cocktail and beer bar is bringing the "grit" back, but that doesn't mean they're phoning in the food. There's something for everyone, from a bison burger with tomato jam and chipotle aioli, to "Oregon's Finest Bowl" a vegan and gluten-free mix of quinoa, carrot, edamame, kalamata olives, feta, fresh herbs, and oregano lemon vinaigrette. On Sunday, they have a Super Bowl Bash in the works.

Saraveza

Though Green Bay didn't make it all the way, this craft beer-focused Packer's bar isn't holding any grudges. They'll host Super Barrel Weekend, when all the taps will run barrel aged beers. To eat, there's a Midwestern-skewed menu and delicious, beer-friendly pasties.

Spirit of 77

Wings, chili dogs, nachos, and burgers. This epic sportsbar has all the usual suspects, but they're made with a level of craft and care that sets the food here apart. With great food and drinks, and lots of TVs, it gets rowdy in here, but it's fun.

The Station

It's a full-on sportsbar, that doesn't feel like a sportsbar. There are six large flat-screens and two drop-down projector screens. But there are also an elegant glowing shelves of top-notch booze. Food gets an updated spin, like "Crater Tots" made with crayfish tail meat, yukon gold potatoes and creole aïoli, and housemade veggie burgers topped with spinach and picked beets. During the Super Bowl party on Sunday, there's a betting grid with a $3,000 top prize.

The Japanese-inspired restaurant and bar is getting in the Super Bowl spirit. They'll show the game and offer happy hour prices on short rib sliders, Asian wings, and scallop tempura. Even better, the Kuza Burger is just $8.

Yur's Bar & Grill

Yep, another dive, and a rowdy one at that, but we'd be remiss if we didn't put a bonafide Patriots bar on the map. Besides, Yur's has some of the best food deals in town, including Taco Tuesdays (3 tacos for $3).[Photo]
